Bison Level 0

Bison dunnage bags are designed for light duty, mainly used in truck transport, and are not AAR-verified.

  • Bison dunnage bags are the equivalent of a 2-ply paper bag

  • Transport method: truck/container – Vertical or horizontal cavities

  • Max. Air pressure: 2-3 PSI

Level 1

Level 1 dunnage bags are AAR verified and are the most preferred types of our dunnage bags.

  • Paper equivalent: 2-ply paper bags

  • Transport method: truck/container – Vertical or horizontal cavities

  • Max. Air pressure: 2-3 PSI

Level 2

Level 2 dunnage bags can be used in all shipping containers – either piggyback (container or trailer on rail) or for overseas transportation.

  • Paper equivalent: 4-ply paper bags

  • Transportation method: Truck/Container/Ocean – Vertical or Horizontal. For longitudinal cavities at loads up to 75,000 lbs (34,000 kg). (In Waggons)

  • Max. Air pressure: 6 PSI

Level 3-4

Level 3-4 dunnage bags are used primarily in rail cars with payloads ranging from 75,000 LBS (34,000 kg) to 205,000 LBS (93,000 kg). They are used for almost all products, including paper rolls, plywood and bricks.

  • Paper equivalent: 8-ply paper bags

  • Max. Air pressure: 8 PSI

Level 5

Level 5 dunnage bags are used for extra heavy paper rolls and metal coils shipped in rail cars with payloads over 205,000 LBS or ship hulls, paper rolls, plywood and bricks.

There is no paper equivalent for Level 5 because paper bags are not capable of meeting the strength requirements of the AAR.

  • Transport method: rail/ocean – vertical or horizontal position in the cavity

  • Max. Air pressure: 10 PSI
